nova action application form

Deadline extended!

Please submit your application to be considered for the Nova Action cohort by Friday, December 20, 2019. Follow the steps below to apply to the Nova Action project.
For any questions or inquiries about the application process, visit to our How to Apply page, or contact Clare at 902-634-9977 or by email: clare@coastalaction.org.

Ready to Apply? Follow 4 easy steps!

1. Decide whether you want to answer the questions from Option A OR Option B (see below)

OPTION A: You're fired up about a specific environmental issue and ready to take action to remedy it.

Answer the following questions:
1.     Tell us about you (Who are you? How do you spend your time? What do you put your energy towards?)
2.     What keeps you up at night? What gets you going in the morning?
3.     What local environmental issue are you passionate about trying to change?
4.     What do you think needs to be done to address this local environmental issue?
5.     Why is it important that this local environmental issue be addressed?
6.     Is there anyone who supports you in your passion toward the environment?
(This could be a teacher who offers encouragement, an organization who inspires you, a peer who keeps you motivated or anything in between. We want to know what lights your fire and how it stays lit.)
7.     What is motivating you to apply? What would you bring to the Nova Action cohort?
OPTION B: You're a passionate environmentalist, but not yet sure where to focus your efforts.

Answer the following questions:
1.     Tell us about you (Who are you? How do you spend your time? What do you put your energy towards?)
2.     What keeps you up at night? What gets you going in the morning?
3.     Tell us about the community you live in
4.     What is your favourite place in your community? Why?
5.     How would your community benefit from your involvement in this project?
6.     Is there anyone who supports you in your passion toward the environment?
(This could be a teacher who offers
encouragement, an organization who inspires you, a peer who keeps you motivated or anything in between. We want to know what lights your fire and how it stays lit.)

7.   What is motivating you to apply? What would you bring to the Nova Action cohort?

2. Once you’ve decided which option suits your situation, answer the questions in either WRITTEN (word document, max. 1500 words) or VIDEO (max. 8 minutes) form.

This does not need to be a professional video! You’re welcome to use your phone, take a selfie video, take us on a walking tour of your community; get creative! You won’t be judged on the quality of the video, just on the content.

The 'submit' button at the bottom of this page will take you straight to the Nova Action shared Google Drive where you can upload your essay or video. Please be prepared to upload your essay or video upon submitting this application. Your file must include your name so we can identify your application. Once uploaded, your essay or video will be downloaded by the Nova Action team as soon as possible and removed from the shared Google Drive so as to protect your privacy. Thank you!
