Burlington Rangers Nova Scotia Bound!
A group of 10 Rangers and 2 chaperones will be travelling to the Mahone Bay area during the first week of July to volunteer on the Mushamush River Project. The Rangers were interested in being part of a rewarding project that focused on improving the environment and one that allowed them to work towards making a difference. They will work with BCAF on a number of projects during their weeklong stay but most of their efforts will focus on restoring habitat in the Mushamush River. We are looking forward to their help but more importantly we are looking forward to meeting a great group of young ladies.

BCAF partnering with NS DEL to deliver the Environmental Home Assessment Program
Nova Scotians want to do their part to protect the environment. Often, people do not realize the environmental and health impacts of not regularly testing well water and properly maintaining oil tanks and septic systems. The Environmental Home Assessment Program is designed to inform Nova Scotians about the importance of their on-site water wells and septic systems, as well as their home oil tank. The home assessment will provide educational information about the importance of regular well water quality testing, pumping of the septic system and maintenance of the oil tank. The program is FREE and offers home assessments to hundreds of individual homes served by water wells and on-site septic systems.
Homeowners who participate will receive :
- A water and wastewater assessment for their property
- A $100 rebate on septic tank pumping
- A water quality sampling kit
- Water saving devices
- Samples of environmentally friendly cleaners
- And a home oil tank system checklist
