Staff Biographies



BCAF'’s present Executive Director and overall project leader/manager is Brooke Nodding. Ms. Nodding is a graduate from Acadia University with a BScH in Environmental Science. She has spent time with both Environment Canada (National Office of Pollution Prevention, Hull, PQ) and Fisheries & Oceans Canada (Habitat Management Division, Dartmouth, NS) before accepting her present position with BCAF. Her background is in fluvial dynamics, aquatic habitat management, conservation management planning, and community-based stewardship initiatives. Brooke has been the Executive Director of BCAF since May 2001.


Diana Saunders, Education Coordinator, has been with BCAF since 1998. She graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Recreation Management in 1996. It was her extensive background in program/project development and her experiences working with children that led her to BCAF as their Education Coordinator. Diana has managed many projects over the years, most recently overseeing the development and implementation of an outdoor classroom at Bayview Community School. Currently she is working on the Environmental Home Assessment Program that keeps her busy traveling around the south west area of the province providing residents with information on their well water, septic systems and oil tanks. As the Education Coordinator, Diana has conducted over 500 presentations to schools and community groups on a variety of environmental topics ranging from recycling and solid waste management to climate change and aquatic species.



Wendy Rodenhizer is a graduate of Acadia University with a Bachelor of Science, specializing in Chemistry and Biology. Upon completion of her degree she traveled to the South Pacific where she had the opportunity to assist on a PhD study dealing with Fairy Penguins and Shearwater Birds. After 8 months of travel, Wendy returned home to put her degree to use. She is presently the project coordinator for the Roseate Tern Recovery Project and the LaHave Water Rescue Project.




Marielle Turner graduated from Saint Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science and double major in Biology and Aquatic Resources. She had previous employment as an Aquatic Health Intern conducting research on Common loon productivity in Kejimkujik National Park and surrounding area. She is currently the Fisheries Technician for BCAF and working on an Elver Abundance Study on the East River. Other projects she will be working on include the Atlantic Whitefish Recovery Project where she will be helping to survey lakes in the Petite Riviere watershed for Smallmouth bass nests. She will also be working on the Gold River Restoration Project.



Andrew Breen is a graduate of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Program at Malaspina University - College, Nanaimo, B.C. While in British Columbia he was employed by Seamount Consulting and Timberwest conducting fisheries and wildlife work within the forestry industry. This work included supervising an electro-fishing field crew and underwater diving on Marine Log Dump Sites. He also worked at various Salmon Enhancement Facilities and aboard commercial salmon fishing boats. He is presently employed by BCAF as the Project Coordinator for the Gold River Restoration Project. Andrew has lived in Chester for 6 years with his wife, Heather and their 3 children; Maria, Ana, and Ben.
