The Nova Scotia Youth Conservation Corps (NSYCC) is a program put on by the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour. It gives Nova Scotian youth between the ages of 17 and 24 an opportunity to gain environmental work experience. The Youth Corps members gain this experience by working on one of many community projects for approximately 2 months (July and August). These Community Projects have in the past included the following: waste resource management, environmental education, watershed management, pollution prevention, and climate change.
The NSYCC receives program funding from the Nova Scotia Department of Community Services, and the Solid Waste-Resource Management Section of the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour. Additional program funding and support is received through partnerships with Clean Nova Scotia, Atlantic Coastal Action Program Cape Breton, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
