afterschool programs

trailblazers afterschool program

Trailblazers is an all-outdoors after-school program for students attending schools in Lunenburg County.

We meet our groups at their schools and walk to nearby wild areas to play heart-pumping games,
prepare and eat a nutritious snack, and spend structured and unstructured time playing and building skills in the forest.

For Spring 2025, we're running Trailblazers at , Newcombville Elementary School (grades 4-5) and North Queens Consolidated School (grades 4-6). North Queens also has a Junior Leader Program for students in grades 7+.

“My son very much enjoyed learning about the wilderness, how to build fires & shelters. He would always come home & tell me facts about whatever he learned that day. Outdoor play is so important & this was an awesome opportunity I hope we can sign up for again.” - parent of past Trailblazers' participant.
Thank you to our current funders!

EARTH ADVENTURE AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM

This program is not running in 2024-25.
A program for Pre-Primary to Grade 4 students at Bayview Community School
Fall Session: Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday

This afterschool program is for students in pre-primary to grade 4 at Bayview Community School. Students take the school bus to a stop on Fauxburg Road, where staff greet them around 2:20 (12:20 on CLT days), then walk together to the Mahone Bay Centre. The program ends at 5:00 PM.

During this exciting program, we will play fun, cooperative games, explore our surroundings, and do adventurous activities in the woods. We also have access to space at the Mahone Bay Centre for inside activities if it’s wet and cold. However, in good weather, most of the time we will be outside!
Note: if there is no school or school is cancelled, the Afterschool Program will also be cancelled.
