trailblazers afterschool program

Trailblazers is an all-outdoors after-school program for students attending schools in Lunenburg County.

We meet our groups at their schools and walk to nearby wild areas to play heart-pumping games,
prepare and eat a nutritious snack, and spend structured and unstructured time playing and building skills in the forest.

For Spring 2023, we're running Trailblazers at
New Ross Consolidated School (grades 4-6), New Germany Elementary (grades 4-6) and New Germany Rural High (grades 7-8).

“My son very much enjoyed learning about the wilderness, how to build fires & shelters. He would always come home & tell me facts about whatever he learned that day. Outdoor play is so important & this was an awesome opportunity I hope we can sign up for again.” - parent of past Trailblazers' participant.

go crew

Our GO Crew program engages female-identifying and non-binary youth in the outdoor setting. We've made this program as accessible as possible to a group of students at Hebbville Academy. GO Crew meets on school property during the school day, all activity and equipment fees are covered, and each program day includes a nutritious snack.

The students get a say in the planning of their program through an introductory focus group where they share their interests and what they’re hoping to get out of GO Crew. Over the course of eight program days, the group enjoys activities like cycling, outdoor skill-building, STEM activities, nature-based art, and more! To cap off the program, we invite the student’s families to join us and discover what their child has been up to at GO Crew.
