Job Application Deadline Extended for NS Youth Conservation Corps

Morton Centre’s Pirate Cove Day Camp
The deadline for applications for the NS Youth Conservation Corp has be extended to Thursday, June 2nd.

There are three positions available for the months of July and August 2016 with Coastal Action. Two of the positions are to work on various projects within the LaHave River and Petite Riviere watersheds (e.g., water quality monitoring, fish habitat restoration projects, riparian restoration, etc.) and the third position is to help out with the delivery of our Morton Centre Environmental Education Programs.

The NSYCC program is delivered through The Clean Foundation and provides summer job opportunities for students looking for environmental work experiences.

Coastal Action Hosting 4th Annual Rum & Chowder Social!

Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation is once again hosting our Rum and Chowder Social fundraising event taking place Friday, June 10th from 6-9 PMat the Lunenburg Community Centre, Green Street.

Join us for an evening of sampling various chowders donated by restaurants in the Town of Lunenburg and surrounding areas, rum (including Ironworks Distillery), a cake auction, ticket draw for local prizes, and lots of entertainment.

Tickets are $30 in advance available at the Coastal Action office located at 37 Tannery Road or on-line right now through PayPal, see Home Page ($4.00 service fee), or $35 at the door.  All proceeds go directly towards supporting our projects and programs.

Lunenburg Celebrates

Did you hear? It’s the Town of Lunenburg’s 263rd Birthday and we’re going to celebrate in style!

On June 7-12, 2016, it’s your chance to be a tourist in your own town.  Residents and visitors alike will be able to celebrate, discover, and rediscover all the great things that Lunenburg has to offer.
Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation is pleased to be offering the following:
Friday, June 10th: 4th Annual Rum and Chowder Social from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.  New for this year, the event will be at the Lunenburg Community Centre, Green Street, as the event has outgrown the Angus Walters House!  Join us for an evening of sampling various chowders donated by restaurants in the Town of Lunenburg and surrounding areas, rum (including Ironworks Distillery), a cake auction, ticket draw for local prizes, and lots of entertainment.

Saturday, June 11th: We will be celebrating World Oceans Day at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic.  Come visit us at our outdoor display on the waterfront between 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM and learn about our different projects and programs.

Also, don’t forget to join us at 2:00 PM for a presentation on the endangered Atlantic Whitefish.  The presentation will be held in the theatre at the Fisheries Museum.

NS Youth Conservation Corps Positions Open

Hired Coastal Action Youth Conservation Corps performing in-stream restoration work in 2014.
