With excess atmospheric carbon contributing greatly to our changing climate, Coastal Action promotes carbon sequestration practices as a tool for climate change mitigation. Our projects focus on agricultural practices, as agriculture has made a significant contribution to climate change by releasing soil organic carbon into the atmosphere through practices that erode and degrade soils, such as plowing, tilling, and land clearing. Our carbon sequestration projects support small agricultural businesses in developing demonstration sites that implement and showcase practices which provide crop yields while also sequestering carbon, like agroforestry, silvopasture, and perennial cropping systems.
